We are searching for the best talent for the Research & Development Leadership Development Program (R&D LDP)- Summer 2027 Internship

The Research & Development Leadership Development Program (R&D LDP) is designed to help talented engineering students develop technical skills, business acumen and cross-functional proficiencies to lead and create innovative ideas, products and services for people around the world.

Internship program (12 weeks over Summer)

An introduction to various R&D platforms, focusing on selecting high performers for the full-time program upon graduation.

By participating in the program, you'll receive in-depth classroom training, allowing you to connect with your R&D LDP peers and the broader R&D community. You'll also receive exciting internal development training opportunities and externally recognized qualifications, like process design excellence, to help advance your career path. You'll gain a strong foundation in the technical skills, business acumen and cross-functional proficiencies you need to succeed as an R&D leader.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Current graduate students enrolled in an engineering graduate program and on track to earn a master's degrees by June 2028.
  • Preferred majors: bioengineering, computer, electrical, mechanical, material science, robotics, systems, software and optical engineering
  • Strongly preferred skill or experience with machine learning, deep machine learning, IoT, embedded software, prototyping, robot design, systems reliability, firmware, and hardware integration
  • Understanding of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and ways of working to meet evolving business needs.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams to identify AI opportunities, evaluate feasibility, and accelerate AI-enabled ways of working adoption.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 strongly preferred
  • Valid leadership experience—and previous R&D internship experience with J&J—highly preferred
  • Ability to relocate anywhere in the U.S. as required for program rotations

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

$26/hr (Sophomore), $28/hr (Junior), $29/hr (Senior), $34/hr (Post-Graduate), $38/hr (Software Eng w/ 2 years exp post grad), $52.50 (PhD). Robotics/Data Science Majors: $28/hr (Sophomore), $31/hr (Junior), $34/hr (Senior), $40.50/hr (Post-Graduate), $52.

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

This position is overtime eligible. Co-Ops/Interns may be eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension).
