Job description

Do you possess a strong foundation in accounting principles and a passion for accuracy? The Heritage Community seeks a detail-oriented Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk to join our established finance team. This critical role plays a key part in ensuring the financial health and smooth operations of our residential community.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable invoices, verifying accuracy and ensuring timely vendor payments in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Review and reconcile financial data with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Code expenses to the general ledger according to approved invoices and company policies.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll for all staff members, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax regulations.
  • Review time and attendance information for completeness, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to address timecard issues.
  • Process payroll deductions and ensure timely deposits or payments.
  • Compile internal reports on payroll data using the designated software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Assist employees with resolving timekeeping issues and answer payroll-related questions.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendors through clear and professional communication.
  • Assist with resolving vendor inquiries or discrepancies.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills when interacting with staff members regarding timecards and payroll matters.
  • Learn and utilize the company's accounting software alongside essential Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Perform other accounting tasks as assigned by the Finance Director.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-high school education in accounting or a related field, or 1 year of relevant work experience in Accounts Payable and/or Payroll.
  • Experience with a general accounting software program (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google applications.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes and procedures (preferred).
