Job Summary
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides patient care and education for patients in ambulatory clinics/areas under the direct supervision of an RN, APRN, PA, physician, dentist, or podiatrist. Using the nursing process, the LVN ensures patients’ physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs are met.

The LVN assists in determining predictable healthcare needs of clients within structured healthcare settings, providing goal-directed care for common, well-defined health problems with predictable outcomes. The LVN coordinates care among healthcare team members to optimize patient understanding and adherence to treatment plans within the LVN scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program

  • Additional certificates as required by unit/service

Work Experience:

  • Experience in area of specialty preferred

Communication Skills:

  • Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)

Proficiencies:

  • PC proficiency
