Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Healthcare

Harris County (Houston), TX

Quality Response Medical Staffing (QRMS) is actively seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide direct patient care at a correctional healthcare facility in Harris County (Houston), Texas. Med/Surge experience is REQUIRED and must be clearly reflected on your resume, ER experience is a plus, clinical experience is required

Responsibilities:

  • Administer nursing care to ill, injured, or disabled patients
  • Observing inmates for signs of physical or mental distress and reporting any abnormalities to medical staff
  • Diagnose and establish patient treatment plans
  • Monitor and report changes in patient symptoms or behavior
  • Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
  • Educate patients about health maintenance and disease prevention
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records
  • Provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members


Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum one (1) year of Emergency Room (ER) experience
  • ER or Med/Surge experience must be clearly listed on your resume
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA)
  • Current immunization records
  • Ability to successfully pass an extensive background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous correctional healthcare experience
  • Trauma or Critical Care experience
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
