Internship Conversion Rate Optimization information

What is an internship conversion rate optimization?

An Internship Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) role involves analyzing user behavior on websites or apps and implementing strategies to increase the percentage of visitors who complete desired actions, like signing up or making a purchase. Interns in this position typically work with data analytics tools, run A/B tests, and collaborate with marketing and design teams to improve user experience. The goal is to learn how to drive measurable improvements in conversion rates, while gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing and optimization techniques.

What types of projects can I expect to work on as an internship conversion rate optimization, and how will I collaborate with other teams?

As a Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) intern, you can expect to work on projects such as A/B testing website elements, analyzing user behavior data, and developing recommendations to improve user experience and conversion rates. You’ll frequently collaborate with marketing, design, and development teams to implement and monitor the impact of your experiments. This cross-functional work environment provides valuable exposure to different perspectives and skill sets, and interns often gain hands-on experience using industry-standard analytics tools. Additionally, you may participate in brainstorming sessions and performance reviews to discuss results and next steps for optimization initiatives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship conversion rate optimization, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist, you need a solid understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and user experience principles, often supported by coursework or certifications in marketing, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with A/B testing tools (like Optimizely or Google Optimize), web analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics), and basic HTML/CSS is typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication skills help you generate insights and collaborate across teams. These abilities are vital for identifying opportunities, implementing tests, and driving measurable improvements in online performance.

Job description

Who we are:

Founded in 2013, Ignition is the leading revenue and billing automation platform for firms and agencies to transform their sales, billing and payment processes.
Ignition automates proposals, engagement letters, invoicing, payments and workflows in a single AI-powered platform, empowering 8,500+ businesses to sell, bill and get paid for their services with ease.
To date, Ignition customers have managed relationships with over 2.4 million clients and earned $13b in revenue via the platform. Ignition's global workforce spans Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Philippines, US and the UK.

Company Values:
  • We are better everyday

  • We work without ego

  • We are smarter together

  • We hero our customer

About the role:

You'll own demand generation and growth marketing for Ignition, running the full paid and organic acquisition engine that fills the funnel before a prospect ever reaches our lifecycle program or sales team. That means paid search (PPC/SEM), paid social (LinkedIn is our primary channel), SEO in partnership with our SEO agency, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) across our trial sign-up flow and website.

This is a broad remit by design, and it's built around AI. You won't just use AI tools day to day, you'll build and run agent-led workflows that let you operate at a scope normally spread across a small team: automating reporting, prospecting support, and campaign ideation, then applying your judgment to what actually ships. Curiosity about agent-led operations is core to how this role scales, not a side skill. We're not asking for years of prior experience running agents, just a real drive to build that fluency here.

Location: Remote role. Candidates must be based in either Ontario or British Columbia with full working rights.

Hours of Work: This is a global role with primary support for the AMER region, so your core working hours will generally align with Eastern and Pacific time zones. As you'll also partner with colleagues across APAC, some flexibility will be required to enable effective global collaboration. We believe flexibility goes both ways, so you'll have the autonomy to structure your day in a way that balances collaboration, deep focus, and personal commitments.

What you'll own:
  • Paid search (Google Ads / PPC / SEM) budget pacing, bid management, keyword hygiene, working with an external paid search consultant.

  • Paid social (LinkedIn primary, Meta/CTV secondary) regional campaigns, content boosting, webinar promotion, creative testing.

  • SEO & content partner with our SEO agency on roadmap, content themes, and brand accuracy.

  • Conversion rate optimization (CRO) trial sign-up flow, website testing, and our AI chatbot experience, working with design/dev.

  • Vendor and agency management hold external partners to a clear brief and measurable output.

  • Agent-led operations run AI agents/automations for reporting, prospecting support, and campaign ideation; you aud it their output for accuracy and quality as a core part of the job.

  • Performance reporting GA4, Amplitude, and VWO (Visual Website Optimizer)-based reporting and experiment read-outs.

  • Global budget ownership for paid Own paid media and agency budgets globally, being able to balance and adjust based on forecast, performance, and insights

How you'll be measured:
  • Paid pipeline volume and CAC (customer acquisition cost) against target

  • Trial sign-up conversion rate

  • Test/experiment velocity and quality of read-outs

  • Vendor and agent output quality relative to brief

This Opportunity May be a Fit if you Have:
  • Hands-on paid search and paid social experience in B2B SaaS, demand generation, or growth marketing. You've owned a real budget and run campaigns yourself, not just managed people who did.

  • Comfortable owning a number and defending or adjusting it with data.

  • Real curiosity about AI and agent-led operations. You don't need years of experience running agents, just a genuine drive to build that fluency, experiment, and use agents to extend what you can own and ship.

  • Experience and flexibility collaborating across regions/time zones (our team spans AMER, EMEA, and APAC).

  • Experimentation mindset, using data and testing to drive decision making and stakeholder buy in.

  • High ownership mentality: you care about outcomes, not just activity

Nice to have:
  • Accounting, professional-services, or vertical B2B SaaS experience

  • Content marketing or marketing automation/CRM experience (we use HubSpot)

  • Awareness of answer engine optimization (AEO) and how AI search is changing content discovery

Why join us:
  • Global SaaS organization - category leader in revenue management from proposals to payments

  • We work without ego in a collaborative, open and transparent work culture

  • Competitive salary

  • Health/Dental/Vision insurance from day 1 of employment, along with RRSP matching after 3 months of employment

  • Employee recognition programs

  • Quarterly wellness allowance to spend on your wellness and what this means to you

  • Flexible working supported by work from office reimbursement and cell phone allowance to allow you to set yourself up to work from home

  • Personal tax return assistance - after all, we are in the accounting business!

  • 20 days accrued paid time off annually , along with 10 annual wellbeing days

  • An extra paid day off to celebrate your birthday, alongside paid volunteering leave

Compensation Information:

Our salary bands are designed to reflect the range of skills and experience needed for the position and to allow room for growth. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on state/location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.

This role has a minimum annual base of CAD $140,000 and maximum annual salary of CAD $155,000 (plus 10k annual bonus, equity, health insurance & other wellness perks).

We may use AI enabled tools to support parts of our recruitment process, such as improving efficiency in scheduling and note taking. These tools are used responsibly and never replace human decision-making, all hiring decisions are made by our people.

We aim to keep the process transparent, respectful of your time, and as smooth as possible.

Ignition is an equal opportunity employer. If you require accommodations during the recruitment process or need materials in an alternative format, please contact careers@ignitionapp.com.

Compensation Range: CA$140K - CA$155K
