At NorthWinds Technology Solutionsยฎ, we are a technology organization that offers a leading solution in the dental insurance industry, working with our Delta Dental dental insurance partners.ย  This modern, cloud-based technology platform is growing quickly with over 10 million lives under contract.ย  NorthWinds offers an Internship program for students pursuing careers in Information Technology.ย  This year we will be hiring 3 Interns to start in June 2025 to join our teams and work in a variety of capacities.ย  This flexible, paid internship program will work full time throughout the summer, working at one of our three home office locations in Stevens Point, WI, Roanoke, VA, or Naperville, IL (there could be some remote work for some areas). Most of our Interns also work part time throughout the school year, or as business needs dictate.ย  ย This program will allow you to work in a variety of settings to hone your skills.ย 

Our internship program will expose candidates to various areas of IT including roles in 1st and 2nd level computer support for systems or enterprise applications, help desk troubleshooting and analysis, security, compliance, IT auditing, and general organizational operations. Interns will learn about emerging business technologies, software development, time management tools, and receive mentoring and coaching to exercise and refine soft skills.

The intern typically will choose one team as their main area of interest and work primarily with that team.ย  However, they could have some opportunity to rotate through other teams in order to gain experience and an understanding of how each team functions and how they contribute to the organization as a whole. Our program provides students practical skills through hands-on assignments working with talented professionals who are willing to share their knowledge.ย  ย During this session, we will bring on Interns working in the following primary areas:

  1. Information Security
  2. Application Administration

To be eligible for our Internship, the following qualifications are needed:

  • The Information Technology Internship is open to Technical College second year students or University Juniors and Seniors with a 3.0 GPA or greater in an Information Technology major with a focus on software development, network administration, security, or related major
  • Have the ability to work a minimum of 10-15 hours/week during the academic year and up to 40 hours/week during summer break
  • A commitment term of 3โ€“12 months will be required depending on time of year and needs of the organization
  • Schedule will be flexible based on student schedule and academic responsibilities related to current semester course load
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills and the have the ability to work well in a team-based environment
  • Be energetic and an organized independent worker
  • Possess strong customer service orientation
