- Provide job coaching and skills training support to students/interns participating in the Project Search program as they work in job rotations at an employer site. Support part time coaches daily at Project Search sites.
- Provide job placement/development services to Project SEARCH students/interns towards the end of the school year. Assist in all aspects of job search and obtaining competitive community employment by the end of program completion.
- Manage Job Development case load and job coaching case load simultaneously.
- Complete all required agency and program specific paperwork including intake, releases, daily job coaching and/or or job development notes, and program plans
Job Responsibilities:
- Coach and train participants in the transition-based program as they work in various job rotations at employer job sites. Assist participants in learning new job tasks, assess work strengths and weaknesses, implement job modifications and accommodations as needed.
- Utilize training techniques through learning channels such as verbal prompting, visual prompting, forward chaining, etc. Adapts training techniques based upon participants strengths and needs.
- Assists students/interns in completing work assignments if and when they are unable to independently perform tasks.
- Attend Project SEARCH class room activities when requested by Project SEARCH instructor and assist students/ interns as needed with projects or assignments as they relate to their job rotations/ work, job development and preparation for employment.
- Schedule informational interviews and job shadows for students/interns while in the Project SEARCH program to help them determine job interests and directions to prepare for job development.
- Provide job development activities with students/ interns when they are ready to begin community job search. Such duties will include: contacting employers/ companies to seek job openings, schedule and establish appointments and represent program through presentations to employers. Establish, create and secure jobs for students/ interns by following up with employers, setting up student/ intern interviews and remain in contact with company representatives.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with schools, host business sites, other youth serving organizations, and at community job sites.
- Educate and work with interns by helping them with identifying job leads, teaching resume writing techniques, teaching interviewing skills and assisting with the application process.
- Accompanies student/interns to employment sites and assists with communicating with managers, completing applications, scheduling interviews, and provides support through the interview process as needed
- Develops job placement plan with student/intern and referring source. Completes job readiness assessment form and mock interview when beginning job development activities.
- Encourages program participants to increase independent work skills by teaching job tasks, interpersonal skills, stress management, communication skills, and other job-related activities.
- Keeps accurate records by completing and maintaining required documentation including case notes, monthly summaries and reports, intake forms, activity logs, mileage reports and discharge summaries.
- Maintains knowledge and skills by attending meetings, seminars, trainings, and workshops.
- Maintains confidentiality of individual case records and other sensitive subject matter.
- Works assigned schedule, exhibit regular and predictable attendance. Performs other related duties as required.
- May be required to transport participants to and from job sites and/or during job development activities.
Education/Qualifications:
- Minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in the field of developmental disabilities;
- Or Relevant experience on a year-for-year basis, or credentialing that substitutes for the educational requirement;
