Full-time

Job description

Tampa International Forest Products (TIFP) is a leading forest products trading company built for ambitious, sales-driven professionals who want to run their own business. As a Trader Trainee, you'll learn the fundamentals of commodity trading while building relationships, developing market expertise, and creating your own book of business.
Our traders operate with full autonomy - sourcing products, identifying opportunities, negotiating deals, and managing customer relationships. No two desks are run the same. You choose how you sell, who you sell to, and how you grow, creating a true entrepreneurial environment with uncapped earning potential.
TIFP offers a fast-paced, team-oriented culture where people work hard, compete, and have fun doing it. Many of our employees have been with the company for 15+ years, a testament to the opportunity, earning potential, and culture we've built. You'll learn directly from experienced traders and be surrounded by driven, motivated teammates invested in each other's success.
This is an in-office role based in Tampa, FL (not remote).
Responsibilities:
  • Learn the industry through our logistics team by expanding transportation networks and negotiating freight rates
  • Prospect, cold call, and qualify customers to build your own book of business
  • Identify market trends and generate new trading opportunities
  • Build long-term client relationships by providing market insight and value
  • Maintain real-time market knowledge to support pricing, risk, and margin decisions

You'll thrive in this role if you are:
  • High-energy with a strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comfortable with cold calling and relationship-based sales
  • Competitive, ambitious, and motivated by results
  • Strong in problem-solving, analytics, and basic math
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple moving parts
  • Interested in running your own desk like a business
  • Comfortable using Excel, Word, Google Docs, and similar tools
