This role exists due to continued growth in aerospace, defense, and medical device programs requiring tight-tolerance Swiss machining.

At Olson Custom Designs, Swiss turning operations are essential to producing complex, high-precision components. The Swiss CNC Setup Technician ensures programs run correctly, setups are executed flawlessly, and parts meet tolerance requirements as tight as ±0.0002".

This is not a button-pushing role — it is precision setup work that directly impacts product quality and customer performance.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up Swiss-type CNC turning centers and mill-turn machines
  • Select and install tooling, guide bushings, collets, and workholding
  • Load programs and establish accurate tool and work offsets
  • Run and inspect first articles before releasing jobs to production
  • Hold tolerances to ±0.0002" when required
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Troubleshoot tooling wear, offset drift, and setup issues
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain quality and cycle efficiency
  • Document setup details to support AS9100 & ISO 13485 requirements
  • Collaborate with programmers, quality, and production teams

  • Experience holding tight tolerances
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused

Preferred

  • Aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 13485 environments
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or 5S environments
