Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer/Machinist to join our client’s manufacturing team in Mishawaka, IN. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision components that meet strict quality and dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of turning operations, blueprint reading, CNC programming, tooling selection, and machining processes, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, dimensional data, surface locations, and interpreting geometrical dimensions and tolerancing
  • Determine the sequence of shaping operations and choose the correct tools required and validates program
  • Writes or modifies existing programs and stores them electronically
  • Operates CNC lathe to perform various functions such as facing, reaming, boring, turning, and grooving
  • Utilize knowledge of machine tool capacities and limitations, machinability of materials and shop math
  • Performs dimensional validation using micrometers, calipers, bore micrometers or relevant dimensional tools
  • Setup lathe by installing and adjusting three or four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, and steady rests
  • Obtain and transfer stock to machine manually or with overhead hoist
  • Log all work activities into labor reporting software
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
  • All necessary PPE is provided, including safety glasses, earplugs, jackets, and breathable weld helmets
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required with demonstrated hands-on proficiency in CNC Lathe metal removal production systems.
  • CNC technical degree or equivalent certificate programs are desired
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in a CNC environment
  • Experience with Mitsubishi, Haas, Mastercam, and Solid Modeling is desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Working knowledge of equipment and tools being used

  • Compensation: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour, based on experience
