Job Description
Responsible for solving moderate to complex cloud-native architecture problems that may not have well-defined solutions and can impact business operations. Applies advanced knowledge of cloud-native, solution, and application architecture principles and organizational goals to design, develop, and implement scalable, resilient, secure, and operable technology solutions. Works independently with minimal supervision and provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and sustainable cloud-native architecture solutions.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration, security, resiliency, and operational alignment of cloud-native solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced architects and technical staff.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud platforms, services, and architectural patterns and recommend their adoption to improve system performance, reliability, and business value.
  • Identify and resolve moderate to complex architectural issues impacting cloud-native applications and platforms.
  • Document architectural designs, decisions, and processes for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Job Tasks
  • Conduct architecture reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with cloud-native standards and guardrails.
  • Design solution and application architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Lead technical discussions and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency and recommend enhancements.
  • Assist in the development of proof-of-concepts and prototypes for new cloud-native technologies.
  • Integrate 'Secure by Design' principles, ensuring adherence to Zero Trust frameworks, compliance standards, and data privacy requirements.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance and cost (FinOps), identifying opportunities to reduce waste in Azure environments.
  • Guide the transition and design of modern architectural patterns such as Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, Cloud-Native Microservices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience in technical architecture and software engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT architecture or senior software engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience solving moderate to complex cloud-native architectural problems.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and mentoring to team members.

Skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex and ambiguous cloud-native issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure-native solution and application architecture frameworks and methodologies.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and mentor others.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Deep technical expertise in software engineering across diverse ecosystems and languages, including Java and .NET.
  • Familiarity with modern observability, logging, and APM tools (e.g., Open Telemetry, Azure Monitor, App Insights, DataDog, Prometheus).
  • Knowledge of diverse data tier technologies, including relational SQL, NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB), and event-streaming platforms.
