Job description

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:

Starfish Family Services is dedicated to the professional development and education of university students in the infant and early childhood field. This is a clinical speech and language pathology experience for students currently enrolled through Wayne State University.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Wayne State Speech and Language Pathology program. 

  • Previous experience working with young children preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by interns in the Early Childhood Education program- not all duties are included. It is expected that an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Follow Starfish Family Services policies and procedures.

  • Follow the guidance from your supervisor and agency lead.

  • Participate in professional development, training, and staff meetings, as applicable.  

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy as required.

  • Notify your supervisor and agency lead to any changes in your schedule.  

  • Engage professionally and sensitively with students, staff, and visitors.

  • Provide evidenced-based interventions to students under the supervision of a seasoned clinician.

LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation.
