Job Description
The Industry Relations and Internship Coordinator supports the Construction Science and Management (CSM) and Concrete Industry Management (CIM) programs at Texas State University by serving as a central liaison between the programs, students, and industry partners. This position cultivates strong relationships with construction and concrete industry stakeholders, coordinates student internship placement, and organizes events to enhance student engagement and industry visibility. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, this role ensures that program-industry partnerships remain robust, students are well-prepared for the workforce, and program activities align with college and university priorities.
Job Duties
40% Industry Relations
• Cultivate, strengthen, and expand collaborative relationships with industry
partners in construction, concrete, and related fields.
• Coordinate industry visits, site tours, guest speakers, and classroom
engagement opportunities.
• Assist industry recruiters in connecting with students for internships,
employment, and career fairs.
• Support departmental industry advisory councils, including identifying
potential members, preparing meeting agendas, coordinating
communications, and producing reports.
• Represent the CSM and CIM programs at regional and national conferences,
competitions, and industry events.
• Develop industry-focused reports and maintain an active database of partners
and contacts.
30% Internship Coordination
• Serve as the primary coordinator for CSM and CIM student internships.
• Develop and maintain relationships with companies offering internships;
expand opportunities across Texas and beyond.
• Match students with appropriate internship experiences and provide pre-

• Track, evaluate, and report internship participation and outcomes.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate internship experiences into academic
requirements and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
• Maintain communication with employers to ensure student performance
meets industry expectations.
10% Event Planning & Student Engagement
• Plan and execute program events such as Career Fairs, corporate lunch and
learns and mixers, scholarship galas, advisory board meetings, industry
information sessions, graduating student banquets, and other student/industry
focused events.
• Support student organizations affiliated with the programs, including CSA,
AGC, CAWIC and ACI student chapters, by advising on event planning and
professional development activities.
• Collaborate with Career Services on successful execution of career fairs.
• Coordinate logistics for competitions, conferences, and networking activities
that connect students with industry professionals.
• Oversee promotional and marketing activities to highlight program
achievements and industry partnerships.
10% Recruiting
• Actively recruit new students to the CSM and CIM programs through outreach
to high schools, community colleges, and industry partners.
• Coordinate with the CIM Program Marketing and Recruiting Coordinator for
the effective use of promotional materials in support of recruiting efforts.
• Represent the programs at career fairs, recruiting events, and professional
conferences.
• Develop recruitment materials and presentations in collaboration with the
department and university marketing teams.
• Engage current students, alumni, and industry partners in recruitment
initiatives.
• Track and analyze recruitment efforts to support program growth and
continuous improvement.
10% Other Duties as Assigned
• Assist with program-level accreditation and reporting (ABET, ACCE, and other
relevant bodies).
• Contribute to departmental communications, website updates, and marketing
materials.
• Support fundraising and advancement initiatives in collaboration with the
department and external foundations.
• Supervise and mentor student assistants supporting program activities.
• Provide input on curriculum support related to marketable skills, resume
development, and interview preparation.
