The internship serves as a training phase, whereas the Bridge Inspector role involves independent work and certification requirements.

What type of inspectors make the most money?

Senior or specialized inspectors, such as structural or civil inspectors with extensive experience and certifications, tend to earn higher salaries. In the context of bridge inspection, inspectors with advanced training, certifications, and leadership roles typically make more than entry-level inspectors. Experience, technical skills, and the complexity of inspections influence earning potential in this field.

How much do bridge inspectors get paid?

Bridge inspectors typically earn between $50,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and certifications. Entry-level inspectors may start at lower wages, while experienced professionals or those with specialized skills can earn higher salaries. Overtime and fieldwork can also impact overall compensation.

How do I become a bridge inspector?

To become a bridge inspector, typically you need a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience or education in civil engineering or construction. Many inspectors obtain certifications such as the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification and may need to complete specialized training on bridge inspection techniques and safety procedures. State or federal agencies often require periodic recertification and adherence to safety standards.

What is the hardest part of a bridge inspection?

For an internship bridge inspector, the hardest part of a bridge inspection is often accessing difficult or hazardous areas of the structure safely, such as under decks or high spans. It requires careful use of safety equipment, climbing skills, and attention to detail to identify potential issues without causing damage or risking injury.
