SUMMARY
Under the leadership of the Health Care Coordinator, this position provides medical and clerical assistance to the Primary Care Provider (PCP). The Medical assistant performs many job duties to keep the Clinic running smoothly. The primary function is to greet, screen and prepare patients for the providers to attend to their nature of illness using professionalism and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Providing Medical and Clerical Assistance to Providers as Needed in the Office and Mobile Health Van
• Greeting Patients
• Measuring and Recording Vital Signs for Patients of All Ages which includes Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration Rate, Temperature, Pain Assessments, Height, Weight and Head Circumference as Needed.
• Taking Medical Histories
• Preparing Patients for Medical Tests and Examinations
• Preparing Exam Rooms for Patient Examinations and Specialized Testing or Procedures i.e. Gynecological Testing, Wound Care, Colposcopy etc.
• Assisting Physicians During Examinations and Procedures.
• Performing Electrocardiogram (EKG) as Ordered by PCP
• Performing Routine WAIVED Laboratory Tests and Sample Analyses, i.e., Urine Dipstick, Accu-Check, HCG, etc.
• Providing Wound Care: Cleaning Wound and Changing Dressing
• Explaining Medical Procedures, Treatment Procedures, Medications, Diets and Providers Instructions
• Providing Patient with Patient Education and Materials
• Cleaning and Sterilizing Medical Instruments
• Administering Topical, Oral, Intramuscular Medications and Immunizations as Directed by Providers
• Keeping Examination Rooms Clean, Sanitized and Stocked.
• Answering Phone Calls, Identifying Self and Clinic/Practice
• Receiving and Documenting Telephone Messages and Gives to the Appropriate Person.
• Handling Requests for Prescriptions Refills, Form Completion, Shot Records etc.
• Sorting Mail
• Handling Correspondence
• Performing Computer EHR amp; I-CARE ENTRY
• Checking and Recording Refrigerator amp; Freezer Temperatures Twice Daily
• Weekly Inventory of Medical, Office Supplies and Equipment
• Tracking and Recording Patient Labs, Diagnostic Tests and Referrals,
• Providing Optimal Quality, Customer Service and Providing Feedback to Management Regarding the Level of Customer Satisfaction
• Following All OSHA Regulations
• Adhering to All Policies and Procedures Set by Management
• Availability to travel to all CCHC healthcare locations
• Other Duties as Assigned
Minimal Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited school/program
• Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
• Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Must be professional, have a friendly demeanor, and be able to carry out assigned tasks
• Must have multi-tasking abilities
• Must possess people skills; ability to handle different personalities and personal situations in the care of patients
