Position Specific Description

The PV Solar & Battery Technician will play a critical role in supporting the operations and maintenance of NextEra Energy's battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Northern Divide in Columbus, North Dakota! Check us out... Join the NextEra Energy Power Generation TeamAs a member of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, this position is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of both the solar generation and battery storage assets. The technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on battery systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and PV components while helping maximize plant availability and energy production.Key

Responsibilities:
-Inspect, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including battery modules, battery management systems (BMS), HVAC systems, and associated electrical equipment.
-Perform routine maintenance and inspections on PV solar arrays, inverters, trackers, and monitoring systems to ensure optimal system performance.-Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, communication, and controls-related issues affecting solar and battery storage equipment.
-Conduct testing, commissioning support, and performance verification of energy storage and solar systems.
-Monitor system performance and analyze operational data to identify equipment issues and improve reliability.
-Collaborate with engineering, operations, and technical support teams to optimize plant performance and implement system upgrades.
-Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company operating standards.
-Accurately document maintenance activities, troubleshooting efforts, repairs, and system modifications.
-Support contractors and other site personnel by providing technical guidance and training as needed.
-Stay current on emerging battery storage technologies, solar industry advancements, and best practices for utility-scale renewable energy operations.

Job Overview

The Site Technician will support the Regional Manager or designee to ensure the perfect execution of the PGD processes. Site Technicians in a solar region perform duties in the following but are not limited to safety, contractor management, electrical/electronic/mechanical equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, overall site operations, asset management and regulatory compliance, reliability engineering, and inventory management.
