Job description

6 month contract to hire on the referral program. They are located at 7400 Gaylord Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034.

  • Looking for a more senior level candidate 8-10+ years experience, Conversion salary is $130K but let me know what you are finding in the
  • If this person lives more than 35 miles away from the office they will consider a mostly remote position, but I know they would like someone in the office a few days a week preferably, they would still have to come in until they were trained and as needed, Starting to migrate from on-prem to the Cloud so looking for someone that understands on prem but can help them as they move off on-prem and SSIS (don't need to have SSIS now), will be a 2-3 year migration and roll out in phases.
  • Someone that can assist with their data warehouse build, Knowledge of the Azure Stack,
  • Building data pipelines so more modernized technologies are needed like ADF, Azure, Fabric, Synapse, Snowflake, Data Bricks-pipelines, Data Lake and Medallion - do not have to have all these skills but looking for someone more senior level that has experience with these more modernized technologies
  • Must have strong Powershell scripting experience/Python and Terraform are preferred,
  • They do have a dev/ops team/environment so if they have the CI/CD pipeline experience that is a plus,
  • Need SSRS-required for data reporting, Reporting team needs help so this DBA will assist with the reporting team as needed, any data warehouse design is strongly preferred and if they have Infrastructure as a code it is preferred
  • Looking for someone that can come in and help with the migration and has some on prem but also has the Azure cloud experience as well.

SQL DBA 6+ Month Contract to Hire Plano area Job Description: Role Summary: Client is seeking a forward-thinking SQL Server DBA to manage and evolve our hybrid database infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments (Azure/AWS). This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of our online transaction processing systems, while guiding cross-functional teams to achieve enterprise-grade scalability and reliability. You'll collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Data teams to modernize database systems, introduce automation and monitoring, and drive innovation across the stack. Key Responsibilities: • Manage SQL Server databases across on-prem, cloud, and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes) - On prem right now-moving to cloud • Implement database automation using tools like PowerShell, Terraform (preferred), or DBATools for backups, provisioning, and patching • Monitor performance and availability using platforms like Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus • Collaborate on cloud migrations and hybrid strategies-Azure SQL, Managed Instances, or AWS RDS/EC2 • Develop database observability practices including query optimization, telemetry, and alerts • Experience with database solutions for resiliency, high performance, and scalability • Familiar with security models including access control, encryption, and vulnerability assessments • Enable disaster recovery with technologies like Availability Groups, cloud backups, and failover clusters • Guide development teams in efficient data modeling, schema management, and CI/CD database practices • Stay current on emerging tools like SQL Server 2022, Fabric, or serverless compute patterns Required Experience: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience • 8-10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL Server 2017+ preferred) • 2-3 years in hybrid or cloud-based environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) • Strong understanding of RDBMS theory, architecture, and performance tuning • Experience with PowerShell (this is what they use and is required), T-SQL, or Python (nice to have) for scripting and automation • Familiarity with containerized deployments and infrastructure-as-code • Exposure to DevOps workflows, Git-based repositories, and CI/CD pipelines • Skilled in data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI, SSRS) • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences Additional Technologies needed (not all are required):
