The Accounting Automation & AI Team is a newly formed team focused on automating complex business processes and applying AI to reduce repetitive tasks which require cognitive reasoning. As an Intermediate Software Engineer, you will design and build reliable and scalable cloud-native systems and integrate AI capabilities to support these enterprise processes. You will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners to implement modern automation solutions, including autonomous and human-in-the-loop systems. The ideal candidate has strong foundational software engineering skills, curiosity about AI, and a passion for simplifying complex workflows through thoughtful automation.

Your Impact
  • Contribute to the design and develop enterprise-grade technology solutions with a focus on system performance, cross-system interdependence, stability, scalability, and usability.

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with software development with one or more development frameworks including .NET, C#, and ASP.NET Core
  • Experience with database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server, DevOps, and Visual Studio
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure SQL, and Azure Functions
  • Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • Capable of writing clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code
  • Experienced in working within Agile/Scrum teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform to deliver repeatable, reliable environments
  • Experience developing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure using Terraform modules and best practices to create scalable, secure foundations
  • Write clean, maintainable Python to automate workflows and support backend services
  • Design and deliver RESTful APIs with ASP.NET Core, and document them clearly using Swagger/OpenAPI for smooth consumer integration
  • Experience using Git confidently to collaborate effectively and ship high-quality changes
  • Bring curiosity about AI: hands-on familiarity with LLM APIs, prompting, and core AI/ML concepts (at a conceptual level)
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and context-engineering techniques to improve response quality and relevance
  • Design data solutions across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data-covering schema modeling, querying, and performance tuning
