Job description

Medical Laboratory Tech

The Medical Laboratory Tech analyzes biological samples in the laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Scientist provides precise and accurate laboratory test results and relays information to the clinical staff to assist in diagnosis and treatment.

  1. Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol while adhering to Service Excellence standards of Courtesy, Privacy, Respect, Dignity, and Responsiveness/Customer Waiting.
  2. Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control while evaluating validity of results obtained.
  3. Follows all safety procedures and protocols.
  4. Performs routine and pre-routine maintenance.
  5. Train and document proficiency of assigned employees/students as directed.
  6. Receive incoming phone calls, documents incoming request for blood to be drawn and follow through on collection as outlines in our service excellence standards, telephone communication, personal ownership, and service recovery.
  7. Assist in maintaining supplies.
  8. Coordinate daily technical activities and ensure tests are complete and accurate in a timely manner by reviewing worksheets, pending logs, and uncollected lists.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualified to perform moderate and highly complexity testing as defined by CLIA 88.

  • Must obtain MLT/MLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology required
