Job Title: Corporate Tax Experienced Manager (Provisions)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager specializing in ASC 740 Tax Provisions to join our clientโ€™s Corporate Tax Practice. This is a hybrid role based primarily out of Manhattan, NY, with additional approved office locations in Melville, NY and Edison/Iselin, NJ.

As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will lead complex client engagements focusing on business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting (both provision preparation and audit support). You will serve as the primary tax relationship manager for multiple clients, collaborating with internal specialists and national tax offices to deliver high-quality, strategic tax solutions.

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent (Backfill)
  • Location: Hybrid (Minimum of 3 days per week in-office or at the client site). Primary location: Manhattan, NY. Alternates: Melville, NY or Edison/Iselin, NJ.
  • Salary Range: USD $149,000 โ€“ $162,000 / year (Dependent on location, experience, and internal equity) + Annual Performance-Based Bonus.
  • Relocation Assistance: Not available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement & Budget Management: Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing complex corporate tax projects while managing to established budgets.
  • ASC 740 Leadership: Conduct primary reviews of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements, ensuring strict proficiency with US GAAP and corporate income tax laws.
  • Compliance & Review: Review corporate tax returns prepared by staff; identify accuracy improvements and proactive tax savings opportunities for large, multi-state, national, and global entities.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise, train, and mentor Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns. Act as the in-charge manager on projects and conduct formal engagement performance reviews.
  • Tax Research & Advisory: Research and consult on complex tax matters, including broad-based statutory compliance, state and local income taxes (SALT), international activity, and transfer pricing.
  • Authority Representation: Prepare responses to inquiries and audits from the IRS, state, and other relevant tax authorities.
  • Client & Business Development: Maintain deep working relationships with client management and staff to understand their business objectives. Identify and capitalize on opportunities to cross-sell services to existing and prospective clients.

Role Requirements

Must-Haves (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting.
  • Certification: Active CPA license (State of NY) OR a JD/active law license is strictly required.
  • Experience Level: 4 to 7+ years of progressive corporate tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
  • Current Title: Must currently be at the Manager level (1โ€“2 years). (Note: This role is not open to Senior Associates seeking a promotion).
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with corporate compliance and deep ASC 740 provision experience (covering preparation, review, and audit support).
  • Firm Background: Recent experience within a Top 15 public accounting firm or a large, reputable regional firm.
  • Client Scope: Proven experience supporting large, multi-state, national, or global corporations.
  • Work Pattern: Stable career progression; ideally no job-hopping (changing roles every 1โ€“2 years) over the last 10 years.
  • Travel: Ability to travel locally to client sites as needed to meet the 3-day onsite/office requirement.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Proficiency with ONESOURCE Tax Provision (OTP) software.
  • Advanced analytical, technical, and tax-technology workflow skills.
