Job description

Stew Leonard's, a family-owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Stew's earned its nickname, the "Disneyland of Dairy Stores" because of its country-fair atmosphere, with costumed characters and animated entertainment throughout the store that keep children entertained while parents shop.
Ice Cream/Coffee Team Leader

Position Summary
The Coffee & Ice Cream Team Leader is responsible for leading daily operations to both the frozen dessert aisle/counters and the specialty coffee department. This role ensures high-quality customer service, adherence to food safety standards, optimized inventory management, and effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operations & Sales Management
    • Oversee daily restocking, merchandising, and temperature control monitoring for frozen dessert freezers and specialty coffee displays.
    • Follow seasonal promotional displays (e.g., summer ice cream features, holiday coffee blends) to maximize revenue and product turnover.
    • Monitor sales trends, track shrink (spoilage/waste), and manage vendor ordering to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Quality Control & Food Safety
    • Maintain compliance with local health department regulations, FDA guidelines, and company food safety standards.
    • Ensure all cold chain protocols are rigorously followed to maintain product freshness and prevent spoilage.
    • Oversee the clean-as-you-go policy across storage units, prep areas, espresso machines, and retail displays.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor department associates in customer service, product knowledge, and equipment operation.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate sales goals, safety procedures, and new product launches.
    • Foster a positive, fast-paced team environment focused on efficiency and exceptional service.
