TRP Sumner PLLC | Fayetteville & Dunn, NC (On-Site)

TRP Sumner is seeking motivated, detail-oriented students to join our Spring and Summer 2027 Internship Programs. These internships provide hands-on experience in public accounting while exposing interns to real-world client work and professional development opportunities.

This posting covers two distinct internship experiences. Candidates may apply for one or both programs.


Program Options

Spring 2027 Tax Internship (February – April 15)

  • Focus on individual (1040) tax return preparation during busy season
  • Minimum 20 hours per week (Monday–Friday within business hours)
  • Work directly with tax professionals on real client engagements
  • Opportunity to develop technical tax knowledge and software skills
  • Location: Fayetteville or Dunn office

Summer 2027 Internship (7-Week Intern Academy)

  • Structured, educational rotation program (limited to 8 interns)
  • Gain exposure to all three service lines:
    • Tax
    • Audit & Assurance
    • Client Accounting Services (CAS)
  • Participate in hands-on projects, training sessions, and team collaboration
  • Learn how classroom concepts apply in a professional setting
  • Location: Split between Fayetteville and Dunn offices
Requirements:Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of tax returns, financial reports, and client deliverables
  • Support audit and accounting engagements as assigned
  • Perform data entry, reconciliations, and basic analysis
  • Communicate professionally with team members and supervisors
  • Participate in training sessions and apply feedback to improve performance
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all work
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
