What is an internship in 3D product visualization?

An Internship in 3D Product Visualization is a temporary position for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in creating digital 3D models and renderings of products. Interns typically use specialized software to visualize prototypes, concepts, or final products for marketing, design, or manufacturing purposes. This role helps interns develop technical skills in 3D modeling, rendering, and animation, while also learning how visualization supports product development and communication within a company.

What types of projects can an intern expect to work on during a 3D product visualization internship?

As an intern in 3D Product Visualization, you will typically work on projects that involve creating realistic 3D models and rendering product visuals for marketing, e-commerce, or design presentations. You may be tasked with transforming 2D sketches or CAD files into photorealistic images, creating animations to showcase product features, and assisting senior designers with visual storytelling. Collaboration with product designers, engineers, and marketing teams is common, providing valuable exposure to the full product development cycle and the opportunity to build a diverse portfolio.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern in 3D product visualization?

To thrive in an Internship 3D Product Visualization role, you need foundational knowledge of 3D modeling, rendering techniques, and a background in design or related fields. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Blender, or Cinema 4D, as well as Adobe Creative Suite, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and effective communication make candidates stand out in collaborative, fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for producing visually compelling product presentations that support team goals and client needs.

Job description

TOV Furniture is looking for a hands-on visual artist who can bring our products to life in styled interior scenes. Using AI image generation tools and Photoshop, you'll transform 2D product photography into polished, on-brand roomshots, hand-styling every scene to reflect current design trends and accurate product detail. You'll work closely with our founders and creative team to translate their vision into a consistent, scalable visual library across our product lines, all while managing a fast-paced production pipeline to keep up with new launches and catalog refreshes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives under deadline pressure, has a sharp eye for interior design, and is fluent in the newest AI creative tools.

What You'll Do

  • Create digital roomshots for TOV products using AI image generation tools and Photoshop, placing furniture into styled interior scenes from 2D photography (no 3D modeling)
  • Style each roomshot individually, hand-placing components and executing edits under tight deadlines
  • Build and maintain a library of room sets, backgrounds, and styling elements (including AI-generated assets) reusable across product lines
  • Work from product specs and reference photography to ensure accurate scale, color, and material representation
  • Create AI-generated video content that's realistic, on-brand, and scalable
  • Collaborate directly with founders and the creative team, interpreting founder-led creative direction into one cohesive vision for product and brand
  • Stay ahead of design and interior trends to keep scenes feeling current
  • Manage a production pipeline to hit volume and deadline targets across new product launches and catalog refreshes
  • Optimize and export final images to specs required for web and marketing channels

What You'll Need

  • Proven experience creating digital roomshots using AI image generation and Photoshop, without 3D or CGI (portfolio required)
  • Hands-on experience with AI image generation tools, including producing AI video that looks realistic and on-brand
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop or similar post-production tools
  • An eye for current design trends and the ability to interpret founder-led creative direction
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure, since each image is individually styled and hand-edited, not templated
  • Excellent communication and task management skills, with experience communicating directly with leadership
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around accurate product representation

Compensation

$65,000-78,000

Benefits

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401k, with a 4% match
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and parental leave
  • Employee discounts
  • Annual financial planning session with Morgan Stanley
