How much do internet service providers make?

Internet service providers (ISPs) typically earn revenue through subscription fees, with profits varying based on customer base, infrastructure costs, and market competition. The income of individual ISP employees depends on their role, experience, and location, with median salaries for network technicians and customer service representatives generally ranging from $40,000 to $70,000 annually. Higher-level positions such as engineers or managers can earn significantly more, often exceeding $100,000 per year.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internet service provider, and why are they important?

To succeed as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) professional, you need expertise in networking, telecommunications, and IT infrastructure, often supported by degrees in computer science or certifications like Cisco CCNA. Familiarity with network management tools, fiber optic technologies, and customer support systems is essential. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills help address technical issues and ensure client satisfaction. These abilities are crucial for maintaining reliable service delivery, troubleshooting network problems, and supporting customer needs in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by technicians working for an internet service provider?

Technicians at ISPs often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, managing high volumes of customer requests, and keeping up with rapidly evolving technology standards. They frequently work in the field, which may involve varied weather conditions and travel between client locations. Effective communication skills are crucial, as technicians need to explain technical solutions to customers and collaborate with network engineers and support teams to resolve escalated issues.

What is an internet service provider?

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company or organization that provides individuals and businesses with access to the internet. ISPs offer various types of connections, such as broadband, DSL, fiber optic, or satellite, depending on your location and needs. They may also provide additional services like email accounts, web hosting, and customer support. ISPs act as the gateway between your device and the global internet, enabling you to browse websites, stream media, and use online services.

Broadband Sales Manager - High Grown Internet Service Provider

Stimulus Technologies

Henderson, NV • On-site

$100K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 22 days ago

Job description

About Stimulus Technologies
Stimulus Technologies is a fast-growing MSP, ISP, and VoIP provider ranked #471 on the MSP501 and headquartered in Henderson, NV. Founded in 1995, we are actively expanding our fiber broadband network and building our first dedicated commercial sales function. 4.8 stars across 87 Google reviews. We reward builders.
The Opportunity
We are building our commercial broadband and residential sales function from the ground up, the same way we are building our MSP sales team. If you have sold business Internet, VoIP, or telecommunications at a senior level, know how to build and manage a sales team, have led a residential outside sales operation, and want to own something rather than inherit it, this role was designed for you.
What You Will Do
  • Build and manage the commercial broadband sales function across Nevada covering fixed wireless, fiber Internet, and hosted VoIP services
  • Build out and oversee the residential outside sales team, recruit, train, and manage field sales representatives covering residential broadband and VoIP across Nevada and future territories
  • Identify, evaluate, and engage an outside sales company for residential door-to-door coverage as the channel scales; eventually hire a dedicated team lead
  • Manage and retain existing commercial VoIP and ISP clients as they migrate to the Omnia platform
  • Oversee commercial broadband and VoIP quoting in Omnia, train and guide the team, not quote personally on every deal
  • Coordinate weekly with our ISP Marketing on lead generation, campaign targeting, and prospect follow-up
  • Hand off qualified MSP opportunities to our MSP Sales Manager using the cross-sell handoff playbook
  • Hire, onboard, and coach the Broadband SDR, AE, and outside sales rep as subscriber volume and pipeline justify it
  • Build the commercial broadband sales process, playbooks, scripts, and tracking infrastructure mirroring what the MSP side has built
  • Report weekly KPIs

What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum 10 years of sales experience; minimum 5 years in a sales management or team leadership role
  • Proven track record of building a sales team from scratch, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Experience managing both commercial (B2B) and residential (B2C) sales channels
  • Comfortable with technical products including fixed wireless, fiber Internet, and hosted VoIP
  • Experience with CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred; Omnia training provided)
  • Builder mindset: you have set up a sales process before, not just followed one
  • Strong communication skills across email, phone, and in-person meetings

Compensation
  • Base salary: $100,000
  • OTE: $150,000 - $170,000 (base + commission)

Stimulus Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the position. Management reserves the right to amend and change responsibilities to meet business and organizational needs as necessary.
