Job description

Shift: Thursday-Saturday, 6am-6pm

Purpose of the Role

The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring our products meet the highest quality standards. This position is responsible for performing detailed quality audits across all Manufacturing departments and must have a strong understanding of inspection procedures, inprocess AQL standards, and overall manufacturing quality expectations.

An ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of our brands, leagues, teams, colors, fabrics, garment specifications, and embellishment methods (Screen Print, Embroidery, Digital, Heat Transfer, Pad Print). This position works the same shift as the Manufacturing teams and is key to ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout production.


Key Responsibilities

First Piece Approval

  • Inspect and approve the first piece of production for accuracy in:
    • Color, placement, registration, and print technique
    • Graphic alignment, curing, coverage, and branding
    • Style/graphic numbers, garment type, size runs, and order completeness
  • Verify grid information, compare to color copies, and check all required quality standards before production continues.

Production Line Inspections

Perform ongoing inspections throughout production runs:

  • Screen Print: Check for color issues, pinholes, bleeding, registration errors, offcenter graphics, ink cracks, and incorrect numbering.
  • Embroidery: Inspect for loose threads, hoop marks, poor registration, and placement issues after operator touchups.
  • Heat Transfer: Identify scorching, misalignment, placement errors, and other defects during pressing.

Authority to Stop Production:
If a defect is found, the Quality Inspector can stop production immediately and notify the run team. If issues persist, the Shift Supervisor or Manager must be informed.

CrossFunctional Support

  • Crosstrained to conduct audits and inspections across multiple manufacturing areas, including Screen Print, TechFit, Embroidery, Digital, Heat Transfer, Pad Print, and Sublimation.

Production Counts & MakeUps

  • Maintain accurate counts of produced garments to support fillrate targets.
  • Follow the makeup decision tree to determine when additional production is required.

Material Handling

  • Catch garments at the dryer, bundle/fold/hang based on garment type.
  • Assist with touchups, garment cleanup, and order prepping as needed.

Data Recording

  • Accurately enter key quality data into AMPS/Smart Sheets to track setups, production output, and reject rates.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain 6S and Lean Manufacturing standards.
  • Participate in shifttoshift communication to ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong visual acuity and coloranalysis ability
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows, internet, touchscreen/mouse)
  • Ability to read, write, count, and distinguish colors
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English
  • Ability to safely use equipment such as RF scanners, box knives, and pallet jacks
  • Solid basic math skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Essential Physical Functions

  • Work in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Sit, stand, walk, grip, lift, bend, twist, push, and pull for up to 12 hours per day
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work safely on elevated surfaces
  • Maintain reliable attendance

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
