Job description

About IdeaTek
At IdeaTek, we are on a mission to fight for "Internet Freedom" by delivering fast, reliable, and affordable fiber-optic internet to underserved communities. We are an entrepreneurial, bold, and resourceful team that doesn't just talk about the future-we build it. As we expand our footprint into Tucson, Arizona, we are looking for a gritty, high-energy leader to join us. This is a brand-new position with the company, offering a unique opportunity to build our Tucson sales operations from the ground up and make a lasting impact on both our organization and the local community.
Position Overview
As the Sales Leader in Tucson, you will be the driving force behind our regional market expansion. Part strategic planner and part hands-on closer, you will be responsible for building, training, and motivating a local team of field (door-to-door) and outbound sales representatives. You will champion IdeaTek's mission locally, establish key community partnerships, and directly manage local sales campaigns in both newly deployed fiber areas (greenfield) and existing markets (brownfield) to meet and exceed subscriber acquisition goals.
What You'll Do
Key responsibilities include:
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing local sales team (including field/door-to-door and outbound representatives). Conduct regular field coaching, shadow sales calls, and run dynamic team meetings to continuously improve pitch and closing ratios.
  • Territory & Campaign Management: Own the Tucson market. Strategically map out daily and weekly sales routes, manage local database/CRM tracking, and execute focused neighborhood "blitzes" to maximize subscriber sign-ups.
  • Direct Sales & Hands-on Coaching: Lead by example. Be willing to roll up your sleeves, knock on doors, and make calls alongside your team to demonstrate effective sales techniques and build initial community trust.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the IdeaTek brand at local Tucson events, neighborhood association meetings, and business networking functions to build local awareness and generate organic leads.
  • Performance Tracking: Set weekly and monthly sales quotas for your team. Monitor productivity metrics, conversion rates, and CRM accuracy to report local market health and pipeline velocity back to executive leadership.

What We're Looking For
To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of successful sales experience, with at least 1+ years in a leadership, supervisory, or team-lead role.
  • Proven Track Record: Experience managing outdoor/field sales campaigns (door-to-door, or face-to-face).
  • Tech-Savviness: Comfort working with CRM software (ex: ZOHO), Google Workspace, and mapping/territory management tools.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements:
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including afternoons, evenings, and occasional Saturdays when residential customers are home), walk several miles a day with your team in varying Arizona weather, and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Travel up to 25% of the time - with potential out of state travel as needed.

What Will Help You Stand Out
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry Expertise: Prior success in fiber-optic internet, telecommunications, SaaS, or high-volume residential services (security/utilities) is a significant advantage.
  • Bilingual Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish is a major asset to effectively serve and connect with the diverse Tucson community.

Desired Attributes
Beyond the qualifications, these attributes are what make someone a great fit for our team:
  • Resilient Spirit: You view "no" as just a detour on the road to "yes." You are gritty, self-motivated, and maintain an infectious positive energy that inspires your team.
  • Connectedness: You care about people and thrive on building authentic, trust-based relationships within your team and the Tucson community.
  • Big Thinker: You are strategic, resourceful, and capable of taking ownership of a brand-new territory to turn it into a thriving, high-revenue market.

Why Join IdeaTek?
