Job description

  • Review television, radio, digital, and social media content for compliance with editorial standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulations. 

  • Assist in evaluating content for accuracy, fairness, balance, taste, decency, and potential legal concerns. 

  • Support the review of scripts, captions, graphics, promotions, and multimedia content before broadcast or publication. 

  • Identify potential compliance issues and elevate concerns to senior standards and practices personnel. 

  • Maintain records of content reviews, approvals, and compliance findings. 

  • Research regulatory requirements, industry standards, and emerging issues affecting broadcast content. 

  • Collaborate with producers, editors, reporters, and digital teams to resolve content compliance concerns. 

  • Assist with ensuring adherence to copyright, licensing, and intellectual property requirements. 

  • Monitor content for consistency with organizational brand, editorial, and ethical standards. 

  • Participate in developing and updating standards, procedures, and compliance guidance materials. 

  • Support investigations and documentation of compliance-related incidents or viewer complaints. 

  • Assist with training staff on editorial standards, content policies, and compliance requirements. 

  • Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements
  • Works independently or as a member of a team
  • Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned
  • Has specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties
  • Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system
  • Other related duties as assigned
