We are currently seeking a Spanish Linguist / Translator to support operations in Tucson, Arizona. This position is contingent on contract award, with an expected start date in September 2026. This is a full-time, CONUS position requiring an active DoD TS/SCI Level clearance
What You’ll Do
As a Spanish Linguist / Translator you will support a high-priority Special Operations mission in Tucson, Arizona. This position directly supports operational planning and execution by providing expert language services to military leaders, intelligence professionals, and interagency partners in a dynamic, mission-focused environment. 
The ideal candidate is an experienced professional capable of providing precise interpretation and translation of operational, intelligence, and law enforcement information while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, professionalism, and security. 
This role falls under Language Specialist within our compensation framework.   This position reports to the Hiring Manager.  You will:
  • Provide Spanish-language simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during operational meetings, planning sessions, and interagency coordination activities. 
  • Deliver interpretation support for General/Flag Officers, Senior Executive Service (SES) personnel, and other senior government leaders. 
  • Translate written operational, intelligence, analytical, and administrative products from Spanish to English and English to Spanish. 
  • Review translated products to ensure linguistic accuracy, contextual fidelity, and proper use of military, intelligence, and law enforcement terminology. 
  • Operate Sennheiser (or equivalent) simultaneous interpretation equipment during meetings and conferences. 
  • Translate technical documents containing military, intelligence, law enforcement, and operational terminology. 
  • Maintain detailed translation and interpretation records, activity logs, and documentation in accordance with program requirements. 
  • Support operational planning and coordination by facilitating effective communication between U.S. Government personnel and Spanish-speaking partners. 
  • Protect classified information and ensure strict adherence to security and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional mission-related duties as required in support of evolving operational requirements. 
  • Acts as the in-house language expert, demonstrating proficiency in multiple languages to facilitate accurate and culturally sensitive communication.
  • Translates written and verbal content between languages and ensures clarity and cultural relevance. Localizes content to resonate with target audiences in various regions.
  • Provides real-time interpretation services for meetings, conferences, and client interactions, enabling seamless communication in multilingual settings.
  • Advises colleagues and clients on cultural nuances, norms, and etiquette to prevent misunderstandings and enhance cross-cultural interactions.
  • Develops and delivers language training programs for employees, fostering a multilingual workforce, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Reviews and proofreads translated materials to maintain high linguistic standards and accuracy.
  • Stays up-to-date with language trends, emerging dialects, and linguistic technologies, proposing innovative solutions to enhance language-related processes.
  • Collaborates with various departments, such as customer service and product development, to ensure consistency in language and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Contributes to the creation of multilingual content, including marketing materials, product documentation, and customer communications.
  • Analyzes linguistic data and customer feedback to identify language-related opportunities and challenges and recommend improvements.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered where applicable. 
 
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Demonstrated Level 4 (Full Professional Proficiency) in both spoken and written Spanish, as measured by the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), Foreign Service Institute (FSI) scale, or another Government-recognized language proficiency assessment. 
    • Ability to provide documentation of language proficiency upon Government request. 
    • Demonstrated experience providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in operational, military, intelligence, or government environments. 
    • Experience translating complex technical, intelligence, military, or law enforcement documents with exceptional accuracy. 
 
  • Clearance:
    • Must have a current and active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
  • Previous experience supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF), the Intelligence Community, Joint Task Forces, or interagency organizations. 
  • Familiarity with military planning processes, intelligence operations, and operational terminology. 
  • Experience supporting senior military leadership and executive-level government officials. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and operational surge periods, in support of mission requirements.

  • Up to 10% travel for Temporary Duty Yonder (TDY) by motor vehicle and/or air travel may be required; some overnight stays possible.
