Position Details
Title Assistant/Associate Professor of Global Production and Trade Governance Appointment Status Tenure Track Department IU Bloomington International Studies Location Bloomington Position Summary
The Department of International Studies at Indiana University's Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure-track faculty position in Global Production and Trade Governance beginning August 1, 2027.
We seek a scholar whose research and teaching examine the governance, law, and political economy of global production systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, global value chains, international trade and investment politics, the regulation of transnational production networks, foreign direct investment, and the implications of global economic governance for development and inequality.
The successful candidate will contribute to the department's growing strengths in international political economy and global governance while supporting existing undergraduate and graduate programs, including the International Financial Governance, Trade, and Development degree and the finance and trade concentration within the Master of International Affairs (MIA) program. The position reflects rising student and institutional interest in issues surrounding globalization, economic interdependence, financial governance, and the evolving rules and institutions that shape international economic relations.
We welcome applications from candidates employing diverse disciplinary and methodological approaches. Candidates should demonstrate a strong research agenda, evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching, and a commitment to interdisciplinary engagement within an international studies environment.
Responsibilities include maintaining an active research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas related to global production and trade governance, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and university service.
Applicants seeking appointment at associate rank with tenure will be required to undergo a review of appropriateness for hire with tenure at Indiana University as a part of the recruitment process. Applicants seeking appointment at assistant rank must have a doctoral degree in hand by August 1, 2027.
