Job Position: Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19130

Job Position: Deaf Interpreter- $2,000 Sign on Bonus

Location: Philadelphia, PA 191304

Description:

We are seeking a Deaf Interpreter (DI) to join our team at a juvenile correction center in Philadelphia, PA. The DI will work with hearing interpreters and various organizations to facilitate effective communication among Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, and hearing individuals using methods like American Sign Language (ASL), tactile signing, and visual aids.$2,000 Sign on Bonus included.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services for Deaf, hard of hearing, and Deafblind individuals in various , educational, legal.

  • Collaborate with hearing ASL interpreters as part of a relay interpreting team when necessary.

  • Adapt communication methods to meet the language and cultural needs of consumers.

  • Utilize ASL, tactile signing, visual gesturing, and other communication techniques effectively.

  • Ensure accurate, confidential, and impartial interpretation in accordance with professional ethics and standards.

  • Assist in clarifying cultural and linguistic nuances between hearing and Deaf participants.

  • Maintain professionalism and compliance with organizational policies and interpreter codes of conduct.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training activities.

  • Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and terminology when available.

  • Document services and complete required reports or records accurately and timely.
