About the Role

Oakland International Academy is hiring for the 20262027 school year. You'll do more than teach core subjects: you'll help students from diverse backgrounds, including English language learners, build the skills and confidence to get to college and beyond.

Certification: A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Integrated Science (DI) 6-12 Endorsement is preferred. If you're not yet certified but are willing to work toward it, including through Michigan's Interim Teaching Certificate (ITC) pathway, we want to hear from you. We know many strong educators come to the classroom through alternative routes, and we don't want that to be a barrier to applying. EMAN offers a tuition assistance program to assist all teaching staff in attaining certification or pursuing a higher degree in the field of education. We also offer mentoring within their first 3 years of teaching and professional development onsite for all staff by dedicating every Friday afternoon to professional development.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and deliver core subject instruction matched to each student's current level
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on results
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians on progress, behavior, and goals
  • Work with teachers and school leadership to improve curriculum and classroom practice
  • Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and IEP/504 documentation
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development activities 

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Integrated Science (DI) 6-12 Endorsement, or actively pursuing certification through an approved pathway (see above)
  • Strong classroom management, organizational skills, and commitment to growth
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and families

Preferred:

  • Experience with Google Classroom, SMART Boards, or similar classroom tech
  • Experience teaching multilingual learners or English language learners
