Safety Manager:

Bilfinger is a leading international services contractor with a proven track record in providing a  highly safe integrated, multi-disciplined construction support services and maintenance solutions in the manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, off and onshore, industrial, and utilities sectors. We are currently looking for an Safety Manager to oversee and execute the successful implementation of strategic safety initiatives across one of our divisions. 

Summary: 

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to health, 
safety & environmental standards that are developed and implemented by the Company  across its operations. The role is critical in the link between HSE and Operations, ensuring  safety is paramount at all times. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provides technical and management advice and support on HSE aspects to line management and site personnel 
  • Ensures HSE plans are developed, executed and measured
  • Support the development and execution of HSE policies & procedures ensuring compliancewith appropriate legal and regulatory requirements
  • Overseas HSE programs to minimize risk and improve overall performance
  • Conducts regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with HSE standards
  • Provides training and counselling to all employees on HSE practices & procedures
  • Collaborates with other functions to integrate HSE considerations into business operations and decision making
  • Uses key performance metrics & indicators to monitor HSE performance
  • Investigates incidents and accidents to determine root causes and implements corrective actions in alignment with other stakeholders; Operations & Clients
  • Promotes a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
  • Supports the development and execution of HSE initiatives and campaigns across the entire organization
  • Supports operations in client meetings and other functions
  • Manage of training program and content related to safety; Manage efforts and initiatives to promote the company's safety program and encourage all employees and subcontractors to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Sets and maintains leading and lagging statistical data and comparison with relevant industry benchmarks
  • Provides detailed monthly and as required reports to the President and senior management team Maintains current knowledge of and disseminates information on changes to applicable industry regulations through networks and membership of industry bodies. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
  • Frequent evening, occasional holiday, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Travel as necessary.

Minimum Education and Experience: 

  • Certifications in safety desired (i.e. COSS, COHS, CHST)
  • Must have a strong background as an HSE professional in industrial construction,  maintenance and turnarounds
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in change management and developing strong HSE culture
  • Strong understanding of process safety in theory and application
  • Strong safety behavior skills and ability to build this within the overall team and with contracted companies
  • Experienced in various roles in incident and emergency management
