  • Monitor systems proactively to identify and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues.


Job description

The position duties include:

  • Working closely with other IT teams including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, Production Support and product vendors to plan, deploy and sustain a stable, highly performing and available infrastructure and application environment.
  • Ownership/oversight and hands-on planning, deployment and operational upkeep of ASRS infrastructure and applications.
  • Proactive monitoring, identification and resolution of the most complex infrastructure and application problems.
  • Promoting and advancing team efficiencies and capabilities through DevOps/automation improvements.

Additionally, and as needed:

  • Maintain timely, accurate and complete documentation and desk procedures for systems and team functions.
  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Administration and management of:
  • Multi-tiered COTS applications
  • Public-cloud services
  • Physical and virtual servers
  • Mid-tier storage arrays and SAN
  • Security appliances
  • Active directory and group policy
  • Secure remote access, remote desktop/VDI
  • Adherence to Incident, Problem, Configuration and Change Management processes and controls.
  • Perform IT Service Management functions including creating tickets, communicating directly with users/IT staff, fielding incident escalations, performing troubleshooting operations and thoroughly documenting progress/status.
  • ASRS intent is to transition this temp position to full-time employee after a period of 6-9 months. Long-term temporary status is not an option

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Experience Required: One or more relevant industry-accepted certifications related to the following technologies: AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, etc.
  • Education Required: BS in Computer/Information Systems and/or five years of experience as a server/network administrator in a medium-large enterprise.

Skills Required:

  • Thorough understanding of multi-tiered application architecture.
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems.
  • Technical knowledge of Linux Server operating systems.
  • Ability to automate operational tasks and routines using PowerShell and/or other automation platforms/methods.
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-resolution skills and analytical/critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work within established operational policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the agency.
  • Experience working in a 24x7, mission-critical enterprise public cloud and on-premises data center environment.

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience using the Arizona Procurement Portal. Experience with contract setup and audit entries in DOORS or the LPA DBE System.
  • The Arizona Procurement Portal (APP) would be the source of payment data that has to then be recorded in our spreadsheet AND in the ADOT DBE & OJT Online Reporting System (DOORS) system audits.
  • We will have to get them access to both.
  • I added that previous experience with those is desired, but I don't really expect to find anyone with that experience.
  • They won't need to use the AZ360 financial system.
  • Access to the LPA DBE System only requires checking to see audits were done and contacting our subrecipient by email if they are lacking in their oversight.

Must have:

  • Relevant industry certifications (AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, etc.).
  • BS in Computer/Information Systems or 5+ years of experience as a server/network administrator in a medium-to-large enterprise.
  • Thorough understanding of multi-tiered application architecture.
  • Technical expertise in:
    • Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems.

    • Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
    • Physical and virtual servers, SAN, and mid-tier storage arrays.
    • Public-cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • Secure remote access, remote desktop/VDI solutions.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell or similar platforms.
  • Experience in a 24x7, mission-critical enterprise environment (public cloud and on-premises).
  • Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management processes (Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management).
