Job description

Department Overview
The Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Department of Diagnostic Radiology is seeking a full-time board-certified radiologist to join our team at Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC). We are a welcoming, supportive team that prides itself on fairness, inclusivity and a collegial environment, valuing high quality patient care combined with excellent work-life balance.
HMC is located in Hillsboro, a suburb of the western Portland metropolitan area. Hillsboro has a rapidly growing population and is just a short 30-minute drive to downtown Portland. It is also in close proximity to many Oregon attractions, including wineries, the coast, mountains, forests, and parks. It is an ideal place to live and work.
Sign-on bonus and relocation funds available!
Function/Duties of Position
We are expanding our general radiology services as part of the Community Division of OHSU at HMC. This is a direct hospital-employed position with no partnership track or buy-in requirement, offering a private practice-style environment with academic health system benefits.
We are a shift-based practice and all shift types are equally and equitably distributed across radiologists. A 1.0 FTE radiologist has a 180 shift target per year. Hours are generally 8 am to 4:30 pm with overnight nighthawk coverage from 6 pm to 8 am. Call is equally distributed among the group, prorated for FTE, and weekend call shifts are from 8 am to 6 pm. The team covers one hospital and one imaging center in Hillsboro.
About our case mix and procedures:
  • More specialized modality cases are typically read by the respective sub-specialty trained members of the practice.
  • Case mix is representative of a suburban community-based radiology practice.
  • A separate IR service covers more specialized interventional procedures.
  • We have a PA for procedures, but candidates should be comfortable with light general radiology procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience reading all radiology modalities (CT, US, MRI)
  • Experience with light general radiology procedures such as CT- and ultrasound-guided drainages/biopsies, arthrograms/joint injections, and breast biopsies
  • ABR Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency
  • Eligible to practice in Oregon
  • International Medical Graduates encouraged to apply if they also hold:
    • Valid ECFMG certification
    • ABR Board Certified or Board Eligible through the ABR IMG Alternate Pathway Program

Candidates at all levels of practice including those currently undertaking residency or fellowship training are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reading mammography and PET/CT

Additional Details
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Benefits:
  • Generous signing bonus
  • Competitive salary with exceptional retirement plan including 403b, governmental 457b, and 401a (with 6% employer contribution)
  • Generous time off plan with an emphasis on work-life balance: 10 weeks off and 11 holidays, with flexible scheduling (including on average 4-day work weeks)
  • Comprehensive malpractice protection
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental leave, and wellness initiatives
  • Home workstations provided
  • $7,000 CME allowance

Why apply to OHSU?
We are Oregon's only public academic health center.
In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research. We also train the next generation of health care professionals. As Portland's largest employer, we give you opportunities to learn and advance in a system of hospitals and clinics across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
All are welcome.
OHSU welcomes people of all ages, ethnicities, genders, national origins, religions and sexual orientations. We are striving to build an anti-racist, multicultural institution and encourage people with diverse backgrounds to apply.
