Job description

Registered Nurse Supervisor (RN), Interventional Radiology

The IR nurse supervisor is an integral part of the imaging team. The major goal of the Interventional Radiology RN Supervisor is to lead, coordinate and provide quality nursing care to Interventional Radiology patients, inpatients and outpatients in the Interventional Radiology Suite and the imaging department and care for patients across the lifespan. The Interventional Radiology RN is qualified and prepared to handle all unexpected emergencies that occur during any imaging/interventional procedure. The Interventional Radiology RN Supervisor must be attuned to the diverse needs of the community such as language, ethnic, religious, and sexual differences and also be familiar with the patient's bill of rights and seek assistance from other resources when needed to ensure individualized care. Skills used in his/her job performance include the nursing process, education and communication, leadership, collaboration/teamwork, research and performance improvement, and management. The nurse ensures patient privacy, dignity, and safety. Areas where the nurse may function are as follows: general diagnostic, interventional procedures, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Qualifications:

  • Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License or Temporary Practice Permit required
  • Prior Interventional Radiology experience or critical care experience preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic technique, IV skills and universal precautions.
  • Desire to develop management skills and accept responsibility for departmental functioning with, and in the absence of, the department director; progressive and successful work history.
  • Interventional radiology and/or critical care experience.
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR) within 3 months of start date in position;
  • ACLS within 6 months of start date in position; PALS within 12 months of start date in position.
