About The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a premier coalition of more than 240 national organizations that promotes and protects civil and human rights in America. The Leadership Conference has coordinated federal strategy and action, including national lobbying and regulatory efforts on behalf of every major civil rights law since 1957.

The Leadership Conference Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization that builds public will for federal civil rights policies. Founded in 1969 as the education and research arm, the Education Fund’s campaigns empower people and advocates to push for progressive change in the US.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior People & Culture Associate to support the full spectrum of talent management functions within our People & Culture Department. This individual‑contributor role reports to the Director, Talent & Learning Development and is not part of the collective bargaining unit.

Candidate Profile

The Senior Associate will provide confidential administrative support for the VP, People & Culture, manage recruitment and onboarding, support the internship program, and assist the team with special projects related to process modernization, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential administrative support for the VP, People & Culture, including coordinating a highly active calendar and tracking upcoming deadlines, events, and appointments.
  • Partner in the full‑cycle recruitment process: job postings, scheduling initial planning meetings, candidate screening, and interviews. Review resumes, conduct screenings to evaluate qualifications and interest.
  • Guide hiring managers and candidates through interview and pre‑hire processes; coordinate interview logistics, collect feedback, and prepare offer documentation. Manage candidate data and recruiting activity in the Applicant Tracking System.
  • Participate in pre‑onboarding and onboarding activities to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
  • Re‑establish the internship program, including recruitment, onboarding, and off‑boarding of interns.
  • Organize career fairs, campus recruitment events, and networking initiatives to promote a strong employer brand.
  • Keep up to date with talent management trends and labor‑market information for the non‑profit sector; conduct research when needed.
  • Process talent & culture invoices and contracts, including monthly credit‑card expense reconciliation.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of human resources experience, preferred in non‑profits.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or related field.
  • Passion for civil and human rights and social justice issues.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks, manage a complex workload, and organize time efficiently.
  • Reliable self‑starter with strong initiative and follow‑through.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion around sensitive matters.
  • Positive work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems, Microsoft Office 365, DocuSign, and Monday.com.
Compensation

The target salary range for this position is $84,058 – $103,328, commensurate with experience.

In‑Office Work Policy

We have a hybrid work policy. From September 1 2025, staff must work in person at least 2 days per month. From January 1 2026, at least 1 day per week or 4 days per month. From April 1 2026, at least 2 days per week or 8 days per month. Positions that are exempt due to medical accommodation or designated as remote can work elsewhere.
