Job description

Title:

Senior Environmental Engineer

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to help support large capital projects.

Under general supervision, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice. Job role is responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Well versed in reviewing, understanding, and applying environmental regulations and requirements for projects.

  • Capable of performing air emissions calculations and compiling data in support of Air Permits with limited oversight, including Criteria Pollutants, GHGs, and HAPs.

  • Experience with preparing air permit applications in the US, including BACT review.

  • Experience in air dispersion modeling and preparing the inputs for modeling for clients conducting their own modeling.

  • Conducting regulatory and permitting reviews specific to site location(s) proposed by client, for various US states and also internationally.

  • Understanding of requirements for air permitting for PSD and Nonattainment reviews, and Title V with guidance from a principal engineer.

  • Generation of project specific Environmental Design Basis, Philosophies, and Standards with support of a principal engineer.

  • Understanding of World Bank, Equator Principles, and IFC requirements and guidelines.

Experience with some or all of the below activities is also requested.

  • Development of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and all relevant coordination and support associated with Construction activities.

  • Development of SPCC Plans associated with Construction activities.

  • Calculates and plans for wastewater and stormwater containment and management in coordination with other engineering disciplines.

  • Calculates and compiles data in support of Wastewater Discharge and Wetlands permits.

  • A chemical engineer with experience in industrial wastewater treatment design and overlap with some of the above activities is also welcome to apply.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive environmental engineering experience

  • Demonstrated EPC project experience, preferably on large or complex industrial projects

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Environmental permitting processes

    • Air quality, water/wastewater, hazardous and non-hazardous waste

    • Environmental monitoring and reporting

  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary EPC teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors:

    • LNG

    • Oil & gas

    • Petrochemical or chemical processing

    • Power generation

    • Renewable energy

    • Heavy industrial or infrastructure projects

  • Experience supporting international EPC projects or clients
