SUMMARY:
BRPH is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our Phoenix, Arizonaoffice.
This position is primarily for HVAC system design.
Our approach to designing and managing projects starts with teamwork. Every project is headed up by a senior-level engineer who leads a group of mid- and entry-level engineers and designers. Our ultimate goal is to deliver excellent projects. We do that by developing excellent teams, working in an exciting atmosphere that continually fosters professional development and technical proficiency. Mentoring and supporting each other is vital to how we accomplish that. As a junior engineer, the candidate will be an integral part of multiple teams. Working well with others is an important aspect of this job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The candidate should possess fundamental knowledge of building load calculations, ventilation calculations and ductwork/piping system sizing and layout. Rudimentary knowledge of HVAC system types and how to select optimal systems for various application is a plus.
  • Proficiency with the following software is desirable:
    • Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
    • Revit (and to a lesser extent AutoCAD)
    • Trane Trace 700 or 3D Plus load program
    • Trane Trace, DOE, EQUEST, or other energy modeling software
    • Florida Energy Code - FLACOM
    • Miscellaneous mechanical system and product selection and sizing software
  • A significant portion of this job will be developing 3D building models using Revit and its various plugins. Learning and becoming proficient with coordination and clash detection software such as NewForma and Navisworks will also be expected.
  • The position may require assisting with the preparation of engineering reports and technical specifications under the direct supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Continually gaining knowledge of pertinent codes, standards, and best practices will be expected.
  • The candidate will be expected to visit construction sites and attend site meetings to review, monitor, and report construction progress of the many projects we design.
  • Construction-related duties will be required such as shop drawing review, answering RFI's, preparing supplemental instructions and writing status reports.
  • As a quality focused firm, self-checking one's own work is very important and must be performed with a keen eye toward producing excellent work.
  • Careful coordination of work with other disciplines will be required.
  • The candidate may assist the senior engineer with client contact and communication.
  • As a team focused firm, it will be expected that all individuals strive to promote excellent communication and cooperation among staff.
  • It will always be expected that the applicant promotes and represents the firm in a professional manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical engineer.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
