Job description

Job Title: Contract Analyst- Logistics


Job Location: Bolingbrook, IL; Hybrid Role, with 1-2 days reporting to the Bolingbrook, IL office location weekly.


Salary Range: DOE 65K-82K


Job Description:

This position requires the applicant to load LTL carrier rates, as well as accessorials, into a Transportation Management System with a high degree of accuracy.  The associate will also be expected to monitor and explain rating discrepancies.  Data requests and analysis will be required as well.  This position is also responsible for various functions such as managing aspects of carrier relations, including but not limited to, service issues, problem solving, metric tracking, and other requests as needed.  Understanding and using National Motor Freight Classification will be required. This position will work with TFWW Logistics operations, vendors, TFWW corporate, sales, and other affiliates to solve specific transportation needs.  Position requires experience with both carrier and customer rating, accessorial tariffs, fuel tables and uplifts.

 

Responsibilities/Job Tasks

Work is typically performed under minimal supervision, with only guidance about overall goals and objectives.  Candidate must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long-term goals of the department.  Applicants shall be able to independently evaluate processes and identify areas of improvement.

Required Skills:

 

The duties and responsibilities described above are the essential functions of the job. The qualifications below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1) Associate degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) in discipline related to Logistics/Transportation or minimum 3 years’ experience in LTL operations.   

2) Requires excellent knowledge of LTL shipping concepts, practices, and procedures is a must.  Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems.  Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop solutions.  Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed to execute.

3) Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Excel, or other technical tools, in completing assignments. Microsoft Office software, MercuryGate transportation software and IT background desired. Experience with transportation software, CzarLite and SMC software preferred.  Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments.

4) Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Ability to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others. Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted.

5) Must have first-rate organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and adjust in order to meet business needs. Excellent problem identification and solving skills required.

6) Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.

7) Complete geographic understanding of the United States and North America.

8) Sound geographic understanding of LTL carrier service areas.

9) Skilled at trouble-shooting contract rating anomalies.
