Job description

CLASS SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the efficient supervision of the Public Safety Assistant – Terminal Services employees. This is a non-sworn uniformed position that curb side and ramp side operations and provides assistance to the airport community in dissemination of information and directions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Oversees, delegates and reviews assigned work, performance appraisals, coaching/counseling, staff development, scheduling and application of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Public Safety Assistants to ensure the following are performed in accordance with department policy: directs traffic flow in front of the terminal buildings, concourses, and other areas as assigned. Assists pedestrians in crosswalks. Enforces parking regulations, by ensuring no vehicles are unattended when necessary, issues citations to vehicles in violation of parking restrictions. Collection and staging of complimentary luggage carts.
  • Process payroll when an employee who is assigned this function is unavailable, ensure that time management systems are completed accurately.
  • Ensure efficient operations at the queue line to assist the general public and airport employees.
  • Must be able to use a variety of computer-based technologies including time management systems, word processing, Microsoft Outlook mail and calendar applications, graphs and spreadsheets.
  • Assists with lost and found program as needed.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:  HSD/GED

Minimum Years of Direct Experience:  3

Related work experience in law enforcement, security, airport, and military.

Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain position appropriate NIMS & emergency training.

Preferred:

Additional Security Levels Required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain position appropriate Federal security clearance

Airfield Driving:

No

DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Proper identification as prescribed by Kenton County Airport Board;
  • Large Vehicle Improvised Explosive Devices (LVIED);
  • Customer service.

DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN:

  • Clearly and effectively communicating both orally and in writing.
  • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, graphs and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated skill in data entry.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
  • Safely operating a vehicle and ramp driving access.
  • Excellent customer service.
