Diesel Mechanic

Reports To: Service Manager

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Pay: $23.00 – $35.00 per hour + Monthly Incentive Program based on performance

Schedule:

  • 5 Days of week; Monday through Friday- 1st Shift

  • Must have the ability to work other shifts for coverage of sick days or vacation relief

ABOUT REGIONAL

Regional Truck and Trailer offers the largest selection of commercial trucks and trailers for sale in Western New York and North West Pennsylvania, as well as long and short-term rentals. We also sell a vast array of commercial vehicle parts, and service all-makes of trucks and trailers including International, Freightliner, Ford, Kenworth, and Peterbilt with warranty and collision repair.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

In this role, you will:

  • DIAGNOSE: Perform diagnostic tests to determine a course of action for repair using computerized and/or specialized tools.

  • REPAIR: Using advanced technical knowledge, complete repairs for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers within allotted time limits.

  • COORDINATE PARTS: Establish a list of parts needed for repairs based on diagnostic tests and work with the Parts Department to assess availability.

  • MAINTAIN: Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.

  • DOCUMENT: Clearly and concisely document each repair task on the repair order form using the KARMAK repair order system, following established policies and procedures.

  • COMMUNICATE: Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to the service advisor.

  • SECURE: Upon repair completion, ensure vehicles are parked in assigned areas, trucks are locked, and keys are tagged and properly stored.

  • TRAIN: Complete all required training within specified time limits, including proprietary software from supported truck manufacturers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of technical experience in the automotive or medium/heavy-duty truck industry.

  • High degree of product and technical knowledge in diesel systems.

  • Valid New York State Driver's License.

  • Proficiency with personal computers and a general understanding of Microsoft Office; ability to learn proprietary software programs as needed.

  • Excellent follow-through, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Must be self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong team player with a commitment to the customer and to performing tasks accurately and professionally.

  • Ability to work other shifts for coverage of sick days or vacation relief.

  • Must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

  • Advanced technical training or education in diesel or heavy-duty truck repair.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with KARMAK or other dealer management/repair order systems.
