Overview
TRC is seeking a junior-level biologist to support our environmental and natural resource staff in our Houston, TX office, Albuquerque, NM office, Austin, TX office. Projects are mainly focused on renewable (i.e., wind and solar) development, pipeline and transmission development, and transportation projects across the state.
Responsibilities
  • Serving as a second for conducting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) wetland / waters / stream delineations and functional assessments.
  • Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting.
  • Endangered Species Act (ESA) threatened, endangered, and protected species habitat assessments
  • Conduct biological monitoring and environmental inspection of construction projects and provide environmental training to construction crews.
  • Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.

Qualifications
  • The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant natural resources field and reporting experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, botany, wildlife management, forestry, environmental science, or related field is required.
  • The successful candidate will be able to work independently under the direction of a Project Manager, must be eager to learn, and have strong technical report writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • An average of 25-45% of work time could account for out-of-town traveling and field work.
  • Able to work outdoors conducting biological fieldwork in remote areas and extreme weather conditions. Must be comfortable using and operating a variety of field equipment such as handheld Trimble GPS units, 4WD and all-terrain vehicles, digital cameras, etc.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to TRC's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle records check.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
