Your Opportunity

You will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on communities in the Mid-Atlantic through our educational design studio in Charlottesville, VA. Specifically, youโ€™ll be working with experienced school planners, architects, and interior designers to design, document, and administer construction on PreK, elementary, middle, high school, education specialty facility projects. This building type presents a unique opportunity to engage with key decision makers at the community and school division leadership levels as well as work with internal team members in studios across the northeast. While you shape buildings, youโ€™ll be shaping the future for generations of students, teachers, and communities.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in team meetings, design charrettes, meetings with clients, and consultant coordination sessions.

  • Attend project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

  • Assist in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents.

  • Assist project teams in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.

  • Utilize Autodesk Revit and other BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.

  • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.

  • Implement sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.

  • Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.

  • Assist in monitoring and coordination of consultant work and deadlines.

  • Keep the Project Manager informed of progress on expectations, deadlines, and deliverables that fall within their responsibility.

  • Assist in contract administration tasks.

  • Contribute to the overall esprit de corps of a vibrant, vibing, busy studio.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Capable of simultaneously supporting multiple Project Managers on multiple projects.

  • General understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry-related standards.

  • Comfortable working independently and takes direction well; however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction.

  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Team player with the client, project team, and contractor.

  • Strong communicator.

  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, InDesign and Photoshop. Experience with Enscape, SketchUP, Newforma preferred.

  • K-12 education sector experience a plus, but not a requirement.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Architecture.

  • 3โ€‘7 years of related work experience.

  • LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, WELL, and/or ALEP preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Work from home may be optional for up to two days per week depending on assignment.

Pay Range
  • Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas - $71,800.00 - $104,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for partโ€‘time roles will be proโ€‘rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular fullโ€‘time and partโ€‘time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, shortโ€‘term/longโ€‘term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
