Job description

We are looking for an AM Technician for our Huntersville, NC facility. In this role you will be critical member of the production team, executing on production order requirements and instructions to manufacture products. Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing (AM) produces high quality components for a variety of industries, including Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Automotive Industries. Through the use of metal additive 3D printers, we manufacture complex metal prototypes or series parts rapidly and without any tooling. As part of the Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing team, you will truly be part of a small segment of people revolutionizing the manufacturing of components using cutting edge technology.

This is a second shift position with core hours 2:00pm – 10:30pm.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Setup, operation, and maintenance of the AM sieves and sieving equipment
  • Setup, operate, maintain, and change over printers for production orders
  • Blending and homogenization of powders
  • Control inventory of all powders
  • Bottling and distributing powder for production
  • Ensure the proper manufacture of AM parts compliant to meet very specific customer requirements.
  • Following safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
  • Collaborating with team members to achieve daily production targets
  • Keeping work areas clean and organized

Your Profile:

  • High School diploma required
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a technical capacity with a manufacturing company preferably in Additive Manufacturing or working with metal powders preferred
  • Previous positions as operations technicians, maintenance, or quality preferred
  • Associates degree in an engineering/business discipline or equivalent/relevant experience desired, not required
  • In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
  • Ability to work in a team-based collaborative environment where priorities may shift regularly
  • Experience in lean manufacturing desired
  • The ability to troubleshoot operational issues and relay information to the team is a must
  • Self-motivation and organization is a must and the ability to work independently once tasked is required
  • Experience working with basic shop tools and hand tools required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Good track record of attendance and being on time for work
  • Ability to wear a respirator/PAPR for certain tasks
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs
  • Basic understanding of machine tools (milling, lathe, drill presses, CNC) and heat treating
  • Familiarity with 5S operations preferred
