The St. James Basketball Programs & Operations Manager Position Summary

The Basketball Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, and assisting with a wide variety of duties necessary for the successful day-to-day operations of The St. James Basketball programs and events. This role supports all operational aspects of basketball programming, including leagues, tournaments, clinics, camps, practices, rentals, club basketball teams, and special events hosted at The St. James. The Basketball Operations Manager will play a key role in the growth and execution of The St. James Basketball business, supporting operational excellence, customer experience, program development, club basketball operations, and revenue-generating events. The Basketball Operations Manager will work closely with internal departments, coaches, officials, event operators, and external partners to ensure a first-class experience for athletes, families, teams, and guests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Basketball Operations
  • Oversee daily basketball operations for leagues, tournaments, camps, clinics, club teams, practices, rentals, and special events
  • Manage the club basketball side of The St. James, including team operations, scheduling, league participation, tournaments, staffing, and player development support
  • Coordinate facility scheduling, court allocations, game-day setup, and event logistics
  • Serve as an on-site manager during events, leagues, tournaments, and basketball programming to ensure efficient operations and a high-level guest experience
  • Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise part-time employees, interns, coaches, and event staff
  • Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with coaches, parents, teams, officials, vendors, and partners regarding schedules, policies, and event operations
  • Assist with tournament, league, and club team scheduling, event technology, admissions, and operational support
  • Monitor participant and spectator experience to maintain a premier standard of customer service
  • Coordinate game-day staffing, officials, scorekeepers, admissions, and facility operations
  • Track and maintain basketball equipment inventory and operational needs
Tournament & League Operations
  • Manage tournament registration, scheduling, seeding, and event execution through Exposure Basketball, Tourney Machine, and related platforms
  • Coordinate tournament logistics including staffing plans, admissions, awards, officials, and event schedules
  • Assist with league scheduling, standing management, playoff formats, and championship events
  • Support post-event evaluations and operational reporting to improve future events
  • Ensure all league and tournament operations are executed efficiently and professionally
Club Basketball Operations
  • Oversee player evaluations, team formation, practice schedules, tournament registration, and season planning
  • Coordinate club coaches, team managers, and operational support staff
  • Assist with player development initiatives and club programming
  • Manage communication with club families regarding schedules, tournaments, policies, and program updates
  • Support club team travel, tournament logistics, and operational planning as needed
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist with registration management using LeagueApps and other operational systems
  • Support event creation and scheduling through TripleSeat and related software platforms
  • Manage operational documents including schedules, rules, waivers, staffing plans, and event communications
  • Assist with budgeting, invoicing, and operational reporting as needed
  • Maintain accurate records for programs, club teams, leagues, tournaments, and events
  • Coordinate event communications, schedules, and updates through Tourney Machine, Exposure Basketball, and related platforms
  • Assist with vendor, official, and partner coordination for basketball events
  • Utilize internal systems to maintain operational organization and reporting
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Sports Management, Business Administration, Recreation, or a related field
  • Previous experience in sports operations, event management, club sports, or administration
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours based on event schedules
  • Experience with LeagueApps, TripleSeat, Tourney Machine, Exposure Basketball, Paycom, or similar operational platforms preferred
  • Strong knowledge of basketball operations, tournament structure, league management, club basketball, and event management preferred
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and customer service standards
  • Experience supervising staff and managing event operations preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
