Job description

Job Summary:
Vertiv is a $10.2 billion global critical infrastructure and data center technology company. They are seeking a Developer Productivity Engineer to lead the enterprise rollout of developer tooling strategy and AI-powered IDE rollout, while enhancing engineering productivity across the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Cursor Rollout & Adoption: Lead the enterprise rollout and adoption of Cursor as Vertiv’s AI-powered IDE, including training and change management for engineering teams across the organization.
• Developer Tooling Strategy: Own and evolve Vertiv’s developer tooling ecosystem — evaluating, onboarding, and governing tools across the full SDLC (IDEs, code review, CI/CD, testing, observability, etc) to ensure the toolchain is current and aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
• Engineering Metrics & Reporting: Define, instrument, and report on engineering productivity metrics, providing leadership with data-driven insights to guide investment and improvement decisions.
• Developer Experience (DX) Optimization: Identify and eliminate friction points in the developer workflow, whether it be from local development environments o CI/CD pipelines, to measurably improve engineering speed, delivery quality, and developer satisfaction across development teams.
• CI/CD & Platform Support: Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and developer environments for reliability and performance, ensuring engineering teams can deliver software with speed and confidence.
• AI-Augmented Development Enablement: Champion the adoption of AI coding tools and good development practices across engineering teams, staying current on advancements in tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, and similar platforms.
• Governance & Standards: Establish and maintain standards, documentation, and governance practices for approved developer tools, ensuring security and compliance requirements are met across all tools.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multiple diverse groups to align tooling decisions with enterprise architecture, security requirements, and business priorities, serving as a trusted subject matter expert on developer tooling and productivity.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
• 5+ years of software engineering or platform/tooling engineering experience; demonstrated experience owning developer tooling or SDLC initiatives; experience with enterprise software rollouts and change management preferred.
• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools (Cursor Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent); hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (Gitlab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent); familiarity with DORA metrics and developer productivity measurement frameworks; scripting proficiency; experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred); familiarity with code quality and observability tooling.
Preferred:
• Experience leading enterprise rollout of AI coding tools or developer productivity platforms.
• Familiarity with Internal Developer Platform (IDP) concepts.
• Agile/DevOps certifications or experience.
• Background in developer advocacy or engineering enablement.
• Experience with Snowflake or enterprise data platforms for metrics reporting.
