Job description

Project Controls Manager (ECPM – Mining & Metals)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)

Role Type: Direct Hire | Senior Leadership

The Opportunity

Step into a pivotal leadership role within a premier international ECPM group. We are seeking a Project Controls Manager to serve as the strategic backbone for large-scale mining, minerals, and metals projects across the Americas.

In this high-visibility, client-facing position based in our Phoenix hub, you will own the systems and interfaces that ensure multi-million dollar capital projects remain on track and under budget. You aren't just reporting data; you are influencing the financial health and execution strategy of some of the world’s most complex industrial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Client Liaison: Act as the primary interface between the Client and the EPCM team, managing all project control activities in strict alignment with prime EPCM agreements.

  • Financial & Schedule Stewardship: Oversee integrated cost and schedule management across multiple contracts, ensuring all procedures meet rigorous corporate and industry standards.

  • Forecasting & Risk Mitigation: Lead forecast meetings and prepare consolidated capital cost estimates. Identify key risks and opportunities early, providing data-backed recommendations on contingency and escalation draw-downs.

  • Change & Trend Management: Implement and maintain robust trending processes, change registers, and variance analysis to ensure project management is never caught off guard.

  • Earned Value Management (EVM): Apply advanced EVM principles and performance metrics to drive accuracy in month-end documentation, vendor invoice processing, and EPCM reporting.

  • Performance Reporting: Deliver concise, informative, and high-impact reports to Project Managers and Clients, visualizing cash flow forecasts, commitment curves, and critical path analysis.

Professional Requirements
  • Industry Tenure: 15–20 years of professional experience, with a heavy emphasis on the Mining, Minerals, or Metals sectors.

  • Scale & Complexity: Proven track record managing project controls for large-scale ECPM projects and leading multi-disciplinary teams through all phases (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management).

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of cost control, planning, estimation, and contract administration.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is highly desirable.

  • Credentials: Affiliation with AACE or PMI (CCP, PSP, or PMP certifications) is a significant plus.

  • Tools: Mastery of MS Office Suite and industry-standard project management/scheduling software.

  • Leadership Presence: Exceptional ability to manage conflicts, influence project teams, and maintain professional relationships with high-level client stakeholders.

Why Phoenix?

Joining our Phoenix-based team places you at the center of the North American mining industry. This onsite role offers the stability of a direct-hire position within a growth-oriented firm that values technical excellence and local expertise.

Note: While based in Phoenix, this role may require occasional short-term travel to support regional and international project assignments.
