Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Area QC Lead to assist managing and overseeing the quality control processes on the Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) project. The Area QC Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all work meets the project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate with the construction team, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the construction process.

Duties: 

  • Assist with implementing and managing the area-specific Quality Control Plan (QCP).
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure they comply with quality standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential issues early and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with the approved project design and contract documents.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members, ensuring they understand and follow QC procedures.
  • Coordinate with the project management team to maintain efficient project progress while ensuring quality standards.
  • Organize and oversee the inspection and testing of materials, workmanship, and finished work.
  • Ensure all tests and inspections are documented and results are communicated promptly to project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing agencies for specialized inspections or certifications.
  • Maintain thorough records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions taken.
  • Prepare detailed quality control reports for internal review and submission to clients.
  • Track and report any non-conformities and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Analyze trends and recurring quality issues to propose corrective actions and improvements to project processes.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving without compromising quality.
  • Actively contribute to meetings and discussions about project quality and suggest improvements.
  • Work closely with the construction and engineering teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Engage with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support safety compliance by ensuring that quality practices align with the project’s safety protocols.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to relevant local and international standards, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external inspection agencies for compliance and certification purposes

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Control (QC) for in heavy civil construction projects, with a strong understanding of design and installation processes.
  • Education: A degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications:
    • Quality Control certifications (e.g., ASQ CQI, ISO 9001).
    • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction, quality control processes, and industry standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
    • Proficiency in quality control software, Microsoft Office, and project management tools.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
