APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*** Job Summary The Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs - Division of Tourism is seeking to fill their vacant Marketing and Communications Manager position in Reno or Carson City. Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (DTCA), the Marketing & Communications Manager position supports the Division of Museums and History (DMH) in their marketing and communications needs.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will work with the administrative leadership and the marketing agency-of-record to implement a cohesive marketing and communications plan for the division on a fiscal basis. This position also leads the marketing agency team to determine how to regularly optimize the media mix to reach the established goals of each program. Essential Qualifications 3-5 years of marketing-specific project management; excellent project management and organization skills; ability to work with multiple clients with varying priorities; solid understanding of marketing; knowledge of Nevada's history and culture a plus.

Job Duties Duties include conducting research to learn about content goals and target audiences, participating in meetings with management, staff, and marketing agency to identify objectives, becoming knowledgeable about each museum's programming and then creating marketing plans to meet those objectives within effective time frames. Works with the DTCA Director, Deputy Director, Research Director, Museums Administrator and other team members to identify marketing and communications needs. Serves as DMH point of contact to implement timely, goal-focused, strategic marketing programs including media buys, social media, and SEO/SEM executed by the marketing agency.

Oversees marketing budget; defining fiscal priorities. Stays up-to-date on the latest developments in terms of marketing content trends and stakeholder behavior. Assists museum staff to develop content plans for individual museums and agency programs.

Works with museum teams to ideate and define content goals and implement strategies. Ensures brand and quality consistency across all content, from websites to social media channels and videos. Maintains a calendar of project/event deadlines and campaign launch dates.

Oversees the development and launch of new content channels. Uses content to drive reach, reputation, and revenue for museums on a variety of digital platforms (blogs, websites, social media) and traditional outlets (PR, printed newsletters, etc.) Works with marketing agency to manage CRM databases to ensure that communication can effectively reach opted-in audiences and will work with museum staff to establish best practices. Writes or edits digital copy as needed for websites and any other applicable platform; has an understanding of user experience, keywords and SEO

Works with research team to track consumer and content analytics and generates reports and presentations. Represents the Division and makes presentations on behalf of the institution when appropriate. Reports quarterly activity to the Division of Museums and History Board.

Assists with museum special events, including on-site presence as needed. Creates pitches and coordinates media and editorial opportunities with executive staff and marketing agency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing content and programmatic strategy.

They will utilize creative vision, collaboration skills, and the ability to understand and work with stakeholders to achieve marketing goals outlined in the Division of Museums and History strategic plan. The Marketing and Communications Manager is accountable to deliver content, programs and events that engage new audiences, meet identified KPIs/metrics, and drive revenue.
