Job description

Associate Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency Program

Our organization is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking leader to fill the role of Associate Program Director within our newly established Internal Medicine Residency Program. We seek a board-certified physician, recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.

The Associate Program Director plays a vital role as a leader and faculty member, collaborating closely with the Program Director to manage both the administrative and clinical aspects of the educational program. Clinical responsibilities may encompass outpatient internal medicine, inpatient hospital duties, or a blend of both, depending on individual interests. Additional leadership roles may include overseeing the Outpatient Internal Medicine Clinic or directing the Academic Inpatient Medicine Service. Furthermore, the Associate Program Director will support the Program Director with various tasks to enhance the educational experience.

Position Requirements
  • Specialty expertise with a minimum of three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.
  • Current board certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Experience in collaborating within an interdisciplinary team to foster an educational atmosphere that prioritizes high-quality care, patient safety, and resident well-being.
  • Eligibility for full medical licensure in South Carolina.
  • Eligibility for unrestricted Active Medical Staff privileges.
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for maintaining ACGME accreditation in Internal Medicine.
  • Demonstration of values and behaviors that align with our organization’s standards.
